The Technological Institute of Packaging, Transport and Logistics (Itene) has certified the influence of Safe Pallet anti-slip interposers in improving the stability and protection of palletized loads, even reducing the use of stretch film by 20% or increasing the number of palletizing levels.
Specifically, ITENE has resorted to the Eumos horizontal acceleration test, in which the conditions in which goods are transported are simulated, to verify that the Safe Pallet non-slip interposers contribute to improving the stability and compactness of the load and therefore compliance with Royal Decree 563/2017.
The study shows that the load that has Safe Pallet non-slip interposers, in five levels of palletizing and a reduction of the wrapping film of 20%, has resulted in the greatest stability. For its part, its homologous load, but without anti-slip interposers, could not resist the reduction of the film and did not comply with the requirements of the Eumos standard.
The test was carried out at the Itene transport simulation center following the EUMOS 40509 standard, now in its new improved version corresponding to 2020. Itene is the only entity in Spain that performs this type of test. The Eumos 40509 standard is included in the provisions on cargo securing of the European Union Directive 2014/47 / EU on roadside technical inspections as a standard applicable to packaging for transport.
The European directive was transposed into Spanish legislation through Royal Decree 563/2017, which came into force in May 2018 and which provides, among other aspects, that the vehicle’s load must be correctly stowed, ensuring that it will withstand a certain acceleration / vehicle deceleration. For this, among other tools, it proposes the horizontal acceleration test according to the Eumos 40509 standard, established by the European Safe Logistics Association (Eumos).
